We started with a conviction: the research security mandates arriving now cannot be sustained as manual work or addressed with form-collection software alone. Faizan Ahmed, MBA, MS

Faizan Ahmed is the founder of ResearchSecurity.ai and a technology leader with more than 25 years of experience building and leading enterprise technology capabilities, including senior technology leadership within the university research enterprise.

Before founding ResearchSecurity.ai, Faizan led Research IT within Rutgers University's Office for Research, supporting technology and digital capabilities across a complex research environment. His experience spans enterprise systems, research technology, digital transformation, data integration, and the operational challenge of connecting institutional processes across organizational and technology boundaries.

ResearchSecurity.ai grew from a practical observation: research institutions are being asked to make increasingly consequential research-security, disclosure, and certification decisions while the information needed to support those decisions often remains fragmented across systems, offices, documents, disclosures, and external sources.

Faizan founded ResearchSecurity.ai to build technology that helps institutions bring those fragmented signals together into structured, reviewable, evidence-supported processes — while preserving institutional judgment and human oversight.

Faizan holds an MBA and a Master of Science in Computer Science, complementing his work across technology, institutional operations, and the research enterprise.

Research Integrity & Research Administration

Glenn Krell advises ResearchSecurity.ai on research integrity, research administration, and the institutional realities surrounding research compliance. He brings more than two decades of university research administration experience, including service as Director of Research Integrity in Rutgers University's Office of Research — covering research misconduct matters, financial conflict-of-interest disclosure processes, and Responsible Conduct of Research programs.

He was the Founding Coordinator of the Big Ten Academic Alliance Responsible Conduct of Research Collaborative. His career has also included work with research faculty and research administration at the University of California, San Francisco; the University of California, Berkeley; and Illinois Institute of Technology.

Haroon Raja advises ResearchSecurity.ai on artificial intelligence, machine learning, and the responsible application of advanced computational methods to complex data and decision-support problems.

He is a machine learning scientist with a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering. His research spans machine learning, distributed algorithms, optimization, and large-scale data processing, including methods for learning from decentralized, streaming, and continuously evolving data. His academic work has included research associated with Rutgers University, the University of Michigan, and Tufts University.

Legal Strategy & Governance

Sahir I Butt advises ResearchSecurity.ai on legal strategy, governance, commercial relationships, and the responsible development of technology for highly regulated institutional environments.

He brings senior legal and organizational perspective to questions involving corporate governance, contracting, risk management, data stewardship, intellectual property, confidentiality, and the allocation of responsibilities among technology providers and institutional customers. His advice helps the company evaluate legal and operational considerations as ResearchSecurity.ai develops products that support consequential institutional review and decision-making.

As Senior Legal Advisor, Sahir works with the founder and leadership team to strengthen the company's governance, contracting approach, business practices, and risk-management framework. He also provides perspective on how legal obligations, institutional policies, technology controls, and human accountability should be reflected in the company's operations and customer relationships.

Hamza I Butt leads software engineering for ResearchSecurity.ai, helping translate complex research-security, disclosure, verification, and institutional workflow requirements into secure and maintainable product capabilities.

His work spans application architecture, full-stack development, data-intensive workflows, systems integration, testing, and the engineering practices required to support a multi-tenant institutional platform. He works closely with the founder and product leadership to turn policy and operational requirements into software that is understandable, reviewable, and practical for research institutions.

As Lead Software Engineer, Hamza contributes to the continued development of the platform's security, reliability, performance, and usability. His role includes strengthening implementation quality, supporting disciplined testing and delivery practices, and ensuring that new capabilities fit coherently within the broader product architecture.
